The NASA Aeronautics and Space Academies gathered in Building 3 at Glenn Research Center to have a Skype conference call with Skybox. We were joined by the NASA Ames Academy, which was touring Skybox that very day. We learned that Skybox’s mission was to build an information platform of global activity that would allow people to make informed decisions. A majority of the employees had some sort of experience working with cube satellites and the company had started from a group of former Stanford students on a previous X-Prize team. Skybox claims to not deal with bureaucracy, which appeals to many of the employees who thoroughly enjoy the work environment. Skybox employees who are Academy alumni shared their experiences about Skybox and how they ended up working there. At the end of the conference call, it was summed up that everyone needs a Linked In account to network with each other and to use those contacts for our future endeavors.
