Academic and Work Experience
I have not had a whole lot of opportunity to do any significant academic project. However, I have completed two rotations at SEW Eurodrive, a gearmotor company, as part of a cooperative education program. This has given me the opportunity to gain a significant amount of experience in the Mechanical Engineering field. I participated in performance tests of the products as well as being part of a team tasked with researching and developing accessories to add to the gearbox and/or motors that would increase performance. This included sourcing and testing new motor vents to apply to the motors, designing strip heaters to fit inside of the motors, and many more projects of this nature. I also wrote technical documents to be sent out to engineers in the field that would give them instructions on how to install and apply the gearmotors in different applications. I was also given the opportunity to work in the onsite machine shop, learning to run the mill, lathe, radial drill, and MIG welder.
Despite not having any publications of academic papers or anything of that sort, I do work very hard at my academics and generally perform very well. I received top notches on a research paper on the fluid mechanics of water towers as well as a research paper on alternative energy.

Hobbies and Interests
I really enjoy playing soccer and football. I also like to get a few friends together and go out and play sand volleyball on a nice day. I weightlift and run. I enjoy cooking and then I especially enjoy eating it afterwards. I like to get together with friends and play pick-up basketball or go camping/fishing.
My name is Gary Wade Stout, Jr. but since Gary is my dad’s name as well, everyone calls me Wade. I was born on December 5, 1989 in Aiken, SC. I have two sisters and one brother. I have had a job since I was 14 years old, first starting in a local pizzeria and then moving on to a fine dining restaurant. Once I could drive, I would go straight from class to work and then work until around 11 at night. This helped to me gain a very strong work ethic and I have always valued a person who makes their own living. I am the first member of my extended family to have a traditional college experience (4 year university right out of high school). I think of it as a privilege and therefore I try to work as hard as possible.
Professional and Educational Objective
My educational objective is to finish my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and to then go on to get a Masters in either Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, as I put a very high value on continuing your higher education. My professional objective is to land a job do research and design of aerospace technology. I have a few family friends who own contracting firms that do design work for airplane manufacturers and I believe this is what I would like to do.
